This news sadly comes only weeks after another prominent figure in American Politics Tim Russert died.

Statement by The President
WASHINGTON, Jul 12, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Laura and I are deeply saddened by the death of our dear friend, Tony Snow. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Jill, and their children, Kendall, Robbie, and Kristi. The Snow family has lost a beloved husband and father. And America has lost a devoted public servant and a man of character.
Tony was one of our Nation’s finest writers and commentators. He earned a loyal following with incisive radio and television broadcasts. He was a gifted speechwriter who served in my father’s Administration. And I was thrilled when he agreed to return to the White House to serve as my Press Secretary. It was a joy to watch Tony at the podium each day. He brought wit, grace, and a great love of country to his work. His colleagues will cherish memories of his energetic personality and relentless good humor.
All of us here at the White House will miss Tony, as will the millions of Americans he inspired with his brave struggle against cancer. One of the things that sustained Tony Snow was his faith - and Laura and I join people across our country in praying that this good man has now found comfort in the arms of his Creator.SOURCE: White House Press Office
I just can not stop crying about this, being a politico it just hurts like hell. Here is all of the coverage of today from NBC News.
The following is a dramatization, it’s what the writer of this blog envision happened when the proposed law discussed was hatched.
A couple of idiot lawmakers in the state where I reside came up with a “splendid” idea. Let’s come up the most asinine law that we can come up with. After scratching their heads and surfing the web they came up with their “plan”. Let’s make a law where any interactive service provider has to ask for the most personal of information for their comments to be allowed on their forums or blogs, and let’s fine those interactive service providers if they don’t. Sounds like a great idea eh? Well, they say that the reason they did it was to stop internet bullying. Now they couldn’t have come up with more educated ways of doing this like, eh, getting a search warrant, getting ISP’s to hand over IP addresses, and then target those people. No, that was much to easy. They had to come up with a hard way to do this.
To read more about this idea, and it’s conclusion you can read two fine pieces penned by my husband over at Why I May Be Forced To Move My Business, and Follow Up On Kentucky HB775. What fine politicians we have here in Rep. Couch and Rep. Higdon. Maybe now they can come up with more worthwhile legislation.

I know that this is a site primarily about me (hence the name Ann Marie IS ME), but truly I’m targeting you the viewer. I like to post things to open your mind, get you thinking, entertain and humor you, and keep you wanting more. You can tell a few of my bigger “loves” (i.e. my faith, politics, newsy type things, human interest stories, etc.) Are there any other things that you’d be interested in seeing about me? Are there any questions that you’d like to ask me? I’m pretty open. So if you do indeed have a question, don’t hesitate to ask. Also, I’d encourage you to participate. Please leave comments on the different posts to keep the conversation going.
Thanks for visiting the site!
Best,
Ann Marie Curling
I’ve been waiting 2 1/2 yrs to be able to say that, and the day has come
Woo Hoo…those early Primaries and Caucus’s will be here before we know it.
I’m very excited about the upcoming debate this afternoon from UM-Dearborn. I’m glad that Fred Thompson is finally IN, and can be tested instead of the free ride he’s been enjoying since he announced. It should be interesting how Romney, Rudy, McCain, and Thompson fare. I hope it’s not like a lot of the other debates that we’ve seen though where no one really gets any time to speak because there are so many people involved. I hope that Romney punches his way through, and takes command like he did at the first debate in California.
It’s nice that it’s in my homestate of Michigan, I read that the car makers are really going all out for the event both by showing off some of their newest cars and by donating $10,000 each back to UM-Dearborn to counteract costs of the debate.
This debate is about economics and Michigan is one state where the economy is in complete and utter disarray. Hopefully Romney can really talk up his business background, and his ability to turn things around and that it will greatly appeal to the desperate voters of Michigan. By desperate I don’t mean they are desperate at a personal level, I mean that they are craving leadership…competent leadership. Too bad they didn’t vote in DeVos!
Feel free to post comments!
This has got to be THE best ad that I have seen in this Presidential Contest yet. It speaks volumes to Governor Romney’s character that he has the strength and guts to tell it like it is. This is exactly what I’ve been wanting to hear from a VERY LONG TIME!
Without further adieu here’s the ad…
Change Begins With US:
[Update: Governor Romney’s Statement on Ahmadinejad’s possible visit to Ground Zero]
Boston, MA – Today, Governor Mitt Romney issued the following statement regarding the possible visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Ground Zero in New York City:
“Ahmadinejad’s shockingly audacious request should be met with a vehement no. It’s inconceivable that any consideration would be given to the idea of entertaining the leader of a state sponsor of terror at Ground Zero. This would deeply offend the sensibilities of Americans from all corners of our nation. Instead of entertaining Ahmadinejad, we should be indicting him.”
First off, Ahmadinejad shouldn’t even be allowed inside this country and it’s absolutely absurd that he’s coming to this country.
First take a look at what Governor Mitt Romney has said about it…

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT: Kevin Madden
(857) 288-6390Boston, MA – Today, Governor Mitt Romney released a letter sent to the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urging “the United Nations to revoke any invitation to President Ahmadinejad to address the General Assembly.”
In his letter, Governor Romney wrote:
“The Iranian regime under President Ahmadinejad has spoken openly about wiping Israel off the map, has fueled Hezbollah’s terror campaign in the region and around the world, and defied the world community in its pursuit of nuclear weapons – capabilities that make these threats even more ominous. As General David Petraeus testified last week, Iran is also supporting Shia militia extremists and violence that is taking the lives of American soldiers and undermining the Iraqi government.”
Governor Romney believes that the Iranian regime’s record demands that the United Nations “take a strong stand against Iran’s President Ahmadinejad.” Failure to take such a stand would be a setback to efforts to address the dangerous and deadly actions taken by Iran’s leaders. If the United Nations fails to act, Governor Romney wrote that “the United States must reconsider its level of support and funding for the United Nations as we look to rebuild and revitalize effective international partnerships to meet 21st century threats.”
Today’s letter builds on the comprehensive strategy to prevent a nuclear Iran that Governor Romney laid out in January 2007 at the annual Herzliya Conference in Israel. As part of this strategy, Governor Romney called for the diplomatic isolation of Iran. He also encouraged public pension funds to strategically divest from any businesses associated with the Iranian regime’s dangerous activities. In September 2006, Governor Romney ordered state government agencies not to support the visit of former Iranian President Mohammed Khatami to the Boston area because of the Iranian regime’s dangerous actions.

But, this one takes the cake…From Fox News, it’s titled Iranian President’s Visit to Ground Zero Denied. This man has nerve, and I don’t mean that in a positive way. I can not believe that this man who’s touted the complete and utter destruction of the state of Israel is going to be allowed inside the United States. Not to mention his nuclear program, and his threatening postures toward the world at large.
I don’t like the UN anyway, I’d like to see it’s doors closed forever and the the US to reclaim that land as it’s own. We are the United States of America, not the United States of the world.
